Well, I’m watching Breaking Bad, of course. Because it gets so frantic and exciting as the season progresses, it’s easy to forget how slow and tantalizing the beginning of the season often is. I have a feeling that business is about to pick up, though.
I’m watching Futurama, naturally. Louie is a great, great show that I have to mention. It’s the very definition of the dichotomy between the sacred and the profane. I love it; I can’t get enough.
I’ve also been watching Men of a Certain Age. TNT cancelled it last month, unfortunately, but it’s a smart and funny series with a lot of poignancy and emotional resonance that doesn’t fall flat like most other “dramedys.”
What else? Luther recently ended (for now); it’s a British show that takes all of the detective show cliches and amps them up to eleven. Idris Elba is a machine and one day he will destroy us all. I’ve also been checking out the Marvel Anime that G4 has been airing: Iron Man and Wolverine. Unfortunately, instead of taking a cue from American storytelling, it’s middling anime with Marvel characters clumsily pasted in. Very disappointing.
